One of the original U.S. highways, Route 66 was established on November 11, 1926 - The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America. The 66 was officially removed from the United States Highway System on June 27, 1985 but still has a place in many a romantics heart. Made famous through songs by Chuck Berry and the Rolling Stones, and it's namesake TV programme in the USA.
