British War Medla (Full Size)
The British War Medal was a campaign medal issued to British and Imperial forces for srvice in World War One between the dates of 1914-20. Some 6,500,000 medals were awarded in Silver to the Army, Navy and Air Force and about 110,000 in bronze were issued mainly to Chinese, Indian and Maltese personel in labour battalions. Many recipients of this medal also recieved the 1914 or 1914/15 Star and Victory Medal. These 3 medals were sometimes irreverently referred to as Pip, Squeak and Wilfred.
