HMV Dog and Gramaphone Metal Wall Sign (4 Sizes)
His Master's Voice is the unofficial name of a British record label created by the Gramophone Company Ltd. in 1901. In 1921 the Gramophone Company opened the first HMV shop in London, England. The store was opened by composer Sir Edward Elgar. In March 1931 the Gramophone Company merged with Columbia Gramophone Company to form Electric and Musical Industries Ltd (EMI). This classic, reproduction HMV advertisement sign is probably one of the most famous advertising images of the last century. The trademark image comes from a painting by the artist Francis Barraud, created in the 1890s, acquired by the Gramophone Company in 1899. The image depicts a terrier named 'Nipper', believed to be the artist's brother's dog, listening to the gramophone. Our HMV wall art makes a great decorator's piece in any home, particularly in studies, lounges and bars with a nostalgic vibe.
