The Mallard at Kings Cross Metal Wall Sign (4 Sizes)

Number 4468 Mallard is a LNER A4 4-6- Pacific steam locomotive built at Doncaster, England in 1938. While in other respects a relatively typical member of its class, it is historically significant for being the holder of the world speed record for steam locomotives (July 3rd 1938 to be exact).

The Mallard, designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, is an express locomotive to power high-speed streamlined trains. Its wind-tunnel-tested, aerodynamic body allowed it to reach speeds of over 100 mph (160 km/h). The Mallard remained in service until 1963, when it retired, having covered almost one and a half million miles (2.4 million km). Our Mallard wall art is a perfect gift for a railway enthusiast or collector of vintage advertising.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Your Mallard Train Sign will come with pre drilled holes in each corner for easy fixing. We recommend that your Metal Wall Art is suitable for Indoor hanging (preferably out of direct sunlight) or in a shaded area outside. These signs are NOT UV treated, but you can apply a suitable UV resistant spray post purchase to prolong it's vibrant colours for a longer period of time ( available from most DIY stores and online ), check out our special Blog for more information. Signs placed in direct sunlight will naturally fade over time. However, placing your sign in the right place will ensure years of happy viewing.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this, and we will be happy to offer advice.
